The Mt. Hood Cycling Classic is returning for the 2012 season in full force
It is time to start preparing for one of the most challenging and exciting races in the country. The Mt. Hood Cycling Classic is back and better than ever. No other race in the country showcases such a diversified scenery and courses taking riders from the dry desert of Eastern Oregon to the rainforest deep in the Cascade Mountains and through the mighty Columbia River Gorge. Located in Hood River, Oregon famous for windsurfing, microbreweries and great food! Come challenge yourself and enjoy your stay!
Kicking off the action Friday June 8th all categories will race the Columbia Hills Road Race. The course is located east of The Dalles, Oregon and takes riders through the dry wheat country of Eastern Oregon. This relatively flat course gives the sprinters something to challenge before the big mountain climbs. Stage two will return to what is considered by many pro riders the most amazing time trial courses in North America, the Scenic Gorge Time Trial. Stage three will once again scream through the streets of downtown Hood River to the screams of excited spectators and fans. Finally the legendary Three Summits Road Race will take riders on single lane forest service roads deep into the Mt. Hood National Forest and help to decide once and for all who the winner of the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic will be.
A big party and awards presentation will follow the completion of the race at the beautiful Cooper Spur Mountain Resort. Lodging will fill up fast so be sure and book now to assure you have a bed and a shower. Cooper Spur Mountain Resort and Best Western Hood River Inn are once again huge financial supporters for the event so be sure and help us fill their rooms and establishments.
A final warning, we anticipate a number of our categories to fill this year. We are taking a very firm stance on field limits and will not be making exceptions due to the narrow rides and tight corners on the Three Summits Stage. So register now to make sure you get a place in this great race!

Coming June 16th, 2012 the 5th annual event looks to grow both in participation and scope for this year. With a mission to increase the health and fitness of today’s youth Mid Columbia Medical Center and the Indie Hops Mt. Hood Cycling Classic have teamed up to produce the largest kid’s bike race in the Northwest. From training wheels to twelve year olds all kids are encouraged to come out and ride. Returning will be the popular kid’s criterium at the new Waters Edge Health & Wellness Center located at Lone Pine Village, on the banks of the Columbia River in The Dalles. Fast smooth roads allow the kids to safely and effectively negotiate the course. Kids will be divided into two year increments for racing.
So whether you are an accomplished racer or still on training wheels come on out and join us on the starting line!

Bring the whole family for a morning of fun at the 3rd Annual Mid Columbia Medical Center Kid’s Race.
Kid-a-gories to choose from: 4< yrs, 4-5 yrs, 6-7 yrs, 8-9 yrs, and 10-12yrs.
Each competitor will receive a special event T-shirt, water bottle and participation ribbon.
The top three competitors in each Kid-a-gory will be awarded special ribbons and prizes.
