It is with great sadness and disappointment that we have come to the decision to cancel the 2012 Cherry Blossom Cycling Classic. With the market continuing to be very difficult to find sponsors as well as a significant decrease in rider registrations last year we have decided to discontinue the event.
We would like to thank the tremendous businesses who supported this event the past three years especially Water’s Edge Health and Wellness for their tremendous efforts as the title sponsor. Castelli for the amazing jerseys as well as Taco del Mar, Big Jim’s Drive In, Comfort Inn, New York City Sub, and The Dalles Chamber of Commerce. Thanks to all you hardcore riders who came out last year and threw down on some very tough courses. Finally a huge thanks to Sorella Forte Cycling Team and Judy Richardson for their tireless efforts in pulling this event together.
Though this marks the end of a great event we are excited to announce two new events coming in 2012 to The Dalles. The Cherry Blossom Fitness Festival April 29th will include a duathlon and half marathon for those looking for some great cross training. The Columbia Gorge Fat Tire Festival April 14-15 will be a great way to kick off the Mt. Bike racing season with two days of fun and racing. Both will enjoy the amazing spring conditions of the dry side of Oregon in Sunny The Dalles!
